No-exam life insurance
What qualifies for accelerated decisions, how the process works, and what to expect if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now use accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount brackets, decisions happen using the application, prescription history, driving record, and other data instead of a paramedical visit. Decisions sometimes come within hours. Each quote shows whether the carrier needs an exam, may need one, or doesn't.
What it changes
Skipping the exam does not skip underwriting. Answers are verified against databases; a policy based on false answers can be contested within the first two years. If questions arise, the carrier may ask for testing before issuing coverage.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants under sixty applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious prior health issues and no tobacco use in the past year. Applicants with recent medical checkups that included lab work may be able to use those results instead of a new exam.
When required, the exam typically runs twenty to thirty minutes at your Gardena home or workplace, at no cost. For healthy applicants, results sometimes yield a better rate class, so undergoing an exam can actually be an advantage.
